Nick Wees has built a reputation of musical excellence and professionalism as both a teacher and a performer. He attended Western Washington University, where he earned a Bachelors in Trumpet Performance, and California State University Long Beach, earning his Masters in Brass Studies. His teachers have included Vince Green, Rob Frear, Kye Palmer, Barb Hudak, Jim Sisko, and more.
Nick has held his expanding teaching studio in King County for over 5 years. Additionally, he has extensive experience working with larger groups in the form of clinics, master classes, and full ensembles. At Decatur High School in the Federal Way School District, he directed the “Decatur Jazz II” band for two years, where students built music fundamentals, improvisational skills, and prepared for frequent performances in the community.
Nick can be spotted performing across the state with many different groups in a multitude of styles. Whether performing or teaching, he brings a love for music wherever he goes. His goal is to allow students the space to experience the joy of music making.
