Susan Jacoby holds a Master of Music degree in Oboe Performance from the University of Washington. Her studies with prestigious teachers have included Alex Klein, Rebecca Henderson, Kathy Greenbank, Laila Storch, David Weber, and John DeJarnatt. She is accredited by the UW in piano proficiency.
Ms. Jacoby has been performing throughout the Northwest for 18 years. Her work has spanned the genres of Symphony Orchestra, Opera, Ballet, Musicals, Choruses and Chamber Music. She has appeared as the feature soloist on a number of occasions.
Ms. Jacoby has extensive training in performance practice and techniques. She is highly skilled in music theory application, based on a solid understanding of musicology and history.
She has 18 years of teaching experience. This includes instruction in the International Baccalaureate Music program, conducting clinics in the public schools, coaching in youth symphonies and judging auditions.
She has successfully prepared students for University admissions, youth symphony auditions, and the State Solo and Ensemble Contests in oboe performance.
Ms. Jacoby is Principal Oboe for the Sammamish Symphony and freelances in the Greater Seattle Area. She has performed with Philharmonia Northwest, Orchestra Seattle, Cascade Symphony, Rainier Symphony, Bainbridge Orchestra, Bellevue Ballet, Bellevue Opera, Tacoma Musical Playhouse, Federal Way Chorale, Federal Way Symphony, Seattle Peace Chorus, and Whidbey Island Center of the Arts. Continually inspired by the blending of the magical sound of her oboe with the timbre of other instruments, Ms. Jacoby performs chamber music, producing programs and providing music for your special events.
