Peter Adams is a pianist, composer, performer, and educator with a passion for helping students discover their unique musical voice. Based in the Pacific Northwest, Peter is an active performer throughout the region, leading his jazz fusion group Velocity and collaborating with a wide range of artists across jazz, contemporary, and popular music styles. He has recorded multiple albums with Velocity, released original music under his own name, and contributed to numerous recording projects as both a studio musician and collaborative pianist.
With more than 20 years of teaching experience, Peter has worked with hundreds of students ranging from young beginners to advanced musicians. His teaching philosophy centers on meeting each student where they are, creating lessons that are fun, engaging, supportive, and tailored to individual learning styles, interests, and goals.
Peter believes that a strong musical foundation should be built through a balance of technical development, music theory, ear training, sight-reading, creativity, and performance experience. Whether a student is learning piano for personal enjoyment, preparing for performances, exploring improvisation, or pursuing advanced musical studies, he strives to make each lesson both challenging and rewarding.
Known for his patient and encouraging approach, Peter helps students build confidence, develop strong musicianship, and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for music. His goal is not only to teach piano skills, but also to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a genuine love of learning that extends far beyond the lesson room.
